Description

Khadgadhara, his iconic sculpture, is inspired by the under-niche designs of these temples, symbolizing the celestial bearer of wisdom through the sword. The form of the sculpture subtly embodies the Bodhisattva, capturing both grace and strength.

Sanjeep Maharjan is a visual artist and sculptor whose work is deeply rooted in the cultural heritage and spiritual philosophies of the Kathmandu Valley. With an MA in Fine Arts and a teaching role at Kathmandu University’s School of Arts, Sanjeep is both an academic and a practicing artist, whose work blends the ancient with the contemporary. His artistic practice spans sculpture, illustration, and design, and he actively facilitates workshops to nurture the next generation of artists.

Sculpture has always been the central medium of his expression. Sanjeep’s work draws from traditional motifs, particularly from medieval wood-carving aesthetics seen in Kathmandu’s tiered temples.
